So I don't listen to music too much and even when I do that would lead me to English music or Bollywood music. And this post would be a new post after more than 3 years so not only I don't listen to too many songs but also the blogs are almost dead but let's revive things.

Someone in the office mentioned Kr$na and it reminded me about one of my favorite DHH rapper so I searched his name and sure enough, found many new names and a new feud in progress between him and Emiway, and though he has already won the beef apparently the songs we got out of the beef are fun to listen to and then listening to these to artists lead me to other Desi Hip Hop artists.

So here's what I am currently listening to obviously Kr$na, Emiway, Raga, Seedhe Maut, Divine, MC Stan, Talha Anjum, Rap Devil, Karma, Dino James, and many more rappers working in the DHH scene. Along with the songs I continue to watch youtube videos of the songs and then reactions and details about the bars in the songs.

Celebrate Valentine's Day with these 14 Hindi Love Songs

Like any sane human being I also love listening to music but so it happens I like to give the time I would have spent listening to the songs to my eBooks so that I can finish more books and so more reading but today I decided to again listen to some music and what do ya know I am still listening to the songs while I write this and also wrote other blog posts. Now of course it wouldn't do to post all the songs I listened to this session but I can of course share the songs I love.

January Movies List

So Happy New Years to you guys, I know it's the middle of February now and I should probably wish a nice Valentine's day to you but it is what it is. So let's recount the movies I saw in the new year 2019. Here are all the movies I saw in January now some movies I saw in Theaters and rest were watched on streaming platforms:

Hey there, how are you doing? I am fine. So let's talk about the recent movies I have seen. In the month of December I saw two movies in the theatre. In fact I saw those movies on the same day one after the other.

Movie Review - A Walk to Remember (2002) [English]

Summary: The story of two North Carolina teens, Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan, who are thrown together after Landon gets into trouble and is made to do community service.

Review: Some movies become part to your heart and they live there forever and forever again. It may be a scene which took away for heart or a performance or a song or even an expression. One such movie was 'A Walk to Remember' based on book by Nicholas Sparks. I had seen this movie long back but it stuck with me and most of all a song called "Only Hope" I would link the video of the song below. 

Now coming to the review. objectively speaking like one reviewer on imdb.com said there's is nothing in the movie to classify it as classic movie nor does it boast academy award wins. Neither the actining is world class. But, there is always a but, all the small parts come together to form a movie which hits you emotionally and makes to cry or at least bring tears to your eyes.

This is the story of Landon who is a bad boy and along with his friends he forces a guy to jump in water where the kid is hurt. Due to this Landon is ordered to do community service and to take a part in school play. Through these events Landon meets Jamie, daughter of the local pastor. And then everything changes for both.

Throughout the next half an hour the preparations for play goes on and during the play Landon falls for Jamie but Jamie rebuffs his actions but only for a little while. After that a whirlwind romance ensues but Jamie has a secret, a terminal disease, Blood Cancer and only has a few months to live. Landon does his best to make rest of her time memorable.

The movie is sad but this doesn't go the path of melodrama by showing Jamie's death but it's effect. This movie is emotional but rather than focusing on the sadness it focuses on the need to go on, Hope and happiness. This is movie to watch over and over again. I myself watched this movie again while I was watching the song which I have linked above. Some movies are worth remembering and this is one of those.

While it is due to my laziness another reason for this is that I haven't been watching any movies for a very long time now. Hopefully I would make it my habit to post regular reviews for the movies or TV shows I have watched.

Movie Review - Madras Cafe` (2013) [Hindi]

 

As I was watching Madras Cafe` (which was initially titled 'Jaffna' which is the better title for the film if you ask me), I was dreading the moment to which the film was leading to and when the moment finally came it still hits you as hard as if you didn't know what was going to happen. Madras Cafe` is one of the best movies to come out of India ever. (Someone said that it looks like 'Body of Lies' based on Trailers, I would watch that movie and confirm that myself)

I am slightly ashamed of being Indian, as its only here that the director goes to make a political thriller on actual events. But can't use the real names or there would be such an uproar that you and me can't even imagine so. They couldn't use Rajiv Gandhi's name just calling him PM or Ex-PM throughout the movie. Yes Rajiv Gandhi as the movie builds up to the assassination of our one of the most loved PMs ever.

I still remember the morning when I went to the market and found everyone reading the newspaper with the assassination news and the shock and disbelief in my father's voice when I told him the news.

The movie tells the story from 1980's when the Sri Lankan civil war started to RG's assassination. The actual story is told in flashback from the year 1994 by John Abraham to a Priest in Church. John plays a RAW agent in the movie and that too very convincingly I must say. The story deals with India's involvement in the Sri Lankan civil war in response to the killing of the Tamil population there. John Abraham as RAW agent Vikram Singh goes to Sri Lanka (Jaffna) to find and weaken Anna the LTF (LTTE) leader. The First half of the movie deals with setting up the background story and detailing the characters.

Second half is the better half of the movie and tensions run sky high as the RAW team works to identify and neutralize the threat to the Ex-PM. You see each frame and realize that you would have to witness the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. You notice the smile, the focus on the Nike Sports shoes and nervous faces of the assassins. And then the boom.

I almost didn't see this movie but thanks to a FB friend and his short review, I went to watch the movie and wasn't disappointed even a bit. OK yes a bit. There were few mistakes in the subtitles shown. I also thought that few vehicles on the road were out of place as the story was being played in 1990ish. And the performances were excellent. Movie was co-produced by John Abraham and Directed by Shoojit Sircar and he shows his versatility and doesn't disappoint after another excellent movie 'Vicky Donor'. This is a Director's movie and a very serious one at that. For once we didn't get flamboyant RAW or Agents for general. Things happened almost they should happen. John's wife didn't know that he was RAW agent. When five guys came to capture him they easily captured John which actually happens when five people attack you. Now to the performances.

John Abraham as the RAW agent is excellent, Nargis Fakhri as an UK journalist is Good, newcomer Rashi Khanna was very good as John's wife, Siddhartha Basu as RAW chief Robin Dutt is Great too, Ajay Ratnam as Anna is Good too. Every actor has done a wonderful job making the movie what it is. Every scene is wonderful. 

Everyone who's like me who complains that Bollywood doesn't make good movies should watch this film. Another plus there are no songs barring a background song in the end, which is a huge plus. This is a milestone movie and no one should miss it. Do yourself a favor and go watch this wonderful movie. This is way better than crap movies which are earning 100 Cr. now a days. 

My rating is 9/10.

Talent to watch out for 4 - Dhananjay Khair

My brother is super talented and deserves all the success and do look out for him. His videos are not viral yet!!! you have to do it make them viral .. God knows we can use as many artists as we can get. Talent to watch out for 2 - Shankar Tucker

Shankar Tucker is a force to reckon with his youtube channel - TheShrutiBox he has more than 10 million page views and his music is superb. As you might already have guessed by his last name Shankar is not Indian infact he is an American but his heart is set on Indian Classical music and he is learning the Indian classic music and rose to the fame with his youtube channel - TheShrutiBox in fact I guess Shankar would be familiar to the most of you if not fret not .. here goes some of his compositions which I like as usual you may go to his youtube channel - TheShrutiBox and check his other work.
